On May 14, 2020, Harrison NY First Responders led by Town of Harrison Deputy Mayor Fred Sciliano, Harrison EMS Executive Director Robert Calandruccio, and members of the Harrison Police Department and EMS received a generous donation from the American Chinese United Care Alliance (ACUC).
Harrison EMS Executive Director Mr. Calandruccio acknowledged with gratitude that these PPE supplies will be extremely beneficial for caring for the Harrison community during the COVID-19 crisis. ACUC donated about 7000 personal protective equipment (PPE) supplies that will be distributed to the Harrison EMS, Harrison Police Department, Harrison Fire Department, West Harrison Fire Department, Purchase Fire Department, and the Harrison Library. The supplies included 3000 KN95 masks, 3250 surgical masks, 200 face shields, and 400 gloves, etc.
The ACUC donation to Harrison was led by ACUC board member Angelene Huang, and other members such as Chun Hwai Su and Sandy Su Family, Larchmont Asian Americans & Friends, Anntremet New York Chinese Community Alliance, Dress Up for The Day NJ High School Program, USA Hua Qiao Middle School of Chang Le Alumni Association. ACUC is comprised of 159 Chinese American communities and organizations in the Greater New York region. Its mission is to help our local communities in the fight against this once-in-a-lifetime pandemic. The ACUC Alliance participants have raised $5.8 million in cash or in-kind PPE donations since March 2020.
Harrison resident Helen Remeza, and Harrison Rocketry team led by Morgan Remeza and Alissa Remeza, helped arrange the donation from the ACUC Alliance to provide this valuable public service effort.
